On Sept. 18, the East Liberty Auto Plant’s (ELP) Environmental team, led by Kailynn Zook, received the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Encouraging Environmental Excellence (E3) Platinum Achievement Award. Hosted by the Ohio Department of Transportation at their headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, Zook and her team were personally invited to attend the public ceremony to be one of four recipients of the Platinum Achievement award — the highest level of all Excellence awards.
The Ohio EPA’s E3 program recognizes organizations that demonstrate exceptional environmental leadership and outstanding sustainability practices. Achieving the Platinum level is a testament to ELP’s commitment to minimizing its environmental footprint while contributing positively to the community and the planet.
Initiatives ELP has deployed in order to earn this recognition include the Blue Skies for our Children, and the Triple Zero by 2050 initiatives. Blue Skies for our Children is a global environmental slogan that Honda has adopted to express its commitment to realize their environmental vision through expanded environmental initiatives. Triple Zero by 2050 is an initiative to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by reducing, eliminating, or offsetting CO2 from products and operations.
This is ELP’s first time receiving the EPA’s Encouraging Environmental Excellence (E3) Platinum Achievement Award.
